Recently, the results of the 51st Geneva International Inventions Exhibition were announced. The project titled High-Precision Measurement, Calibration and Application of Femtosecond Laser Multi-Scale Parameters, jointly completed by AVIC Beijing Changcheng Institute of Metrology & Measurement and Lumispot, has been awarded the Special Jury’s Gold Award – the highest honor of the exhibition, known as the “Gold Award of Gold Awards.” The winning rate for this top-tier honor was less than 3%.
Founded in 1973, the Geneva International Inventions Exhibition is jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Swiss Federal Government. It is recognized as one of the world’s most influential invention events. This year’s exhibition gathered more than 1,000 inventions from across the globe, with the Chinese delegation presenting 237 innovative achievements.
The Special Jury’s Gold Award requires unanimous approval from 153 international experts and is selected only from gold-medal-winning projects. Its selection criteria are extremely rigorous. While the Chinese delegation obtained a total of 90 gold medals, very few projects received this supreme honor. Lumispot’s outstanding performance fully demonstrates that its technological strength has reached the global leading level.
Femtosecond Metrology: Breaking Core Industry Bottlenecks
Developed jointly by AVIC Beijing Changcheng Institute of Metrology & Measurement and Lumispot, the Femtosecond Laser Multi-Scale Precision Measurement Project takes advantage of the femtosecond laser’s property as “the shortest measuring ruler.” It has successfully overcome the long-standing technical bottleneck of unified high-precision calibration across micro-, meso-, and macro-scale structures and equipment components.
The technology can be widely applied in aerospace, high-end equipment manufacturing, precision instrument calibration, and other high-precision sectors. It greatly improves the accuracy, stability, and reliability of measurement data for critical industrial applications.
