Applications
A 635nm red fiber-coupled laser diode is used as the pump source to irradiate the alexandrite crystal. The chromium ions within the crystal absorb energy and undergo energy level transitions. Through the process of stimulated emission, 755nm near-infrared laser light is ultimately generated. This process is accompanied by the dissipation of some energy as heat.
